Hippo follows the coming of age of two half-siblings: Hippo, a video game addicted teenager, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a love of classical music and Jesus. Like Aphrodite in ancient Greece, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by her brother, who prefers to indulge in the arts of war and mayhem. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
