Narrative
Amid the bitter discord between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun, two sisters fight on rival sides in a war between magical technologies and conflicting beliefs. Fortiche Productions made a music video for Riot in 2013 called “Get Jinxed,” which featured Jinx and the city of Piltover. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took them several years to complete.

After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that production would take less time. The series is based on the video game League of Legends
Featuring Imagine Dragons and J.I.D., Arcane tells the story of two young orphan sisters growing up in the town of Zaun and Piltover who get into trouble. Although you’re thrown right into this fictional world, the necessary time and care is taken to create locations and characters in a commendable show-don’t-tell style. Solid character development and world-building ensure that it’s enjoyable to watch even if you know nothing about the game.
There’s an incredible attention to detail
The animation is nothing short of exquisite. As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be far better than anything I’d ever seen in an animated series before. It’s clear that neither artistic talent nor financial investment was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life.
Great soundtrack, great acting and a gripping story that doesn’t hold back when it comes to violence and more adult themes
